Also referred to as stale block, uncle block refers to a block discarded on blockchain because two blocks are created simultaneously. Given the requirement for proper validation of tokens and the inherent nature of blockchain like Ethereum, two blocks are not allowed to enter simultaneously. Hence, one of the blocks created simultaneously is discarded.
